Your hands are delicately wrapped around a warm mug of hot cider while twinkle lights surround you. Friends, loved ones and family are near--and you’re eagerly anticipating their delight when they finally unwrap the perfect gift you got them.

There’s nothing quite like a nostalgic holiday playlist to make any winter scene feel more complete and joyous. Even if holiday music isn’t your thing, odds are you will be listening to something this season—a favorite artist, a new podcast episode or Jim Carrey’s memorable rendition of “You’re a Mean One Mr. Grinch.”

Music, especially, means a lot to people during the holidays. In December 2015, nearly 90 million listeners (an all-time high!) tuned into Pandora to personalize their own endless stream of music.1 We were curious to learn more about the role music plays in people’s lives during the holidays, so we asked our listeners what they thought.
